There once was a tiny woman
Her dreams were to grow tall like a tree.
With every rainstorm she collected raindrops
and stored them in bottles under her kitchen sink.
Green, purple, rainbow glass bottles…
She saved them for the messy days.
The days when hope ran out the windows
and faith disappeared with the horizon on the bay
the days when the thunder made its way into her house.
And little by little, sip by sip
she grew taller.
Though at times, she failed to see
every rainstorm; a lesson, a memory
a gift, a miracle, a story, a seed.
It took a lifetime, but she did it.
She grew so tall she passed the mountains
inhaled the clouds and tasted stars.
She dug her toes deep into the earth, her roots.
And held her arms out like branches for stability.
She stood so proud she bloomed and kept on blossoming
when she swayed her hair she made the wind.
She became a source of peace and weather
Every wrinkle on her body, a memory.
Every scar, a story worth telling
A life well lived is the product of balance.
Gratitude for the rainy days and deeply receiving bouts of sunshine
What wisdom she carries
What beauty she’s seen.
Followed her dreams to grow up to be a tree.
UP NEXT WEEK:
-For everyone: I’m starting April off by pouring my heart out about some very special friends and why I learned to be careful what I prayed for! As always, I ramble, make jokes, and dramatically recount some crazy recent life events. It’s got heart, it’s got passion, and of course, a lot of magic! Stay tuned!!
-For paid subscribers: I’m diving into how I organize my ideas/ thoughts and make my digital field journal. I’ll be talking about the different apps and resources I use, how to stay *somewhat* organized as a multifaceted artist, and let you peek into my field journal that has been years in the making! Also my April mood board and wallpapers will be available for download on Friday of next week!
I love this 🌲
